The CWG Prayer Chain Post is a weekly post for members to include their special intentions by adding a comment.

Isaiah 35: 2-8
They will see the LORD’s glory, the splendor of our God.

Strengthen the weak hands, and support the unsteady knees.
Say to those who are panicking: “Be strong! Don’t fear!

Here’s your God, coming with vengeance; with divine retribution

God will come to save you.”

Then the eyes of the blind will be opened, and the ears of the deaf

will be cleared.

Then the lame will leap like the deer, and the tongue of the speechless

will sing. Waters will spring up in the desert, and streams in the wilderness.
The burning sand will become a pool, and the thirsty ground,

fountains of water.
The jackals’ habitat, a pasture; grass will become reeds and rushes.
A highway will be there. It will be called The Holy Way.
The power of prayer and the power of people praying.

December Intention Prayer

The Magnificat or The Canticle of Mary (Luke 1: 46-55)
And Mary said:
“My soul glorifies the Lord
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for he has been mindful
of the humble state of his servant.
From now on all generations will call me blessed,
for the Mighty One has done great things for me—
holy is his name.
His mercy extends to those who fear him,
from generation to generation.
He has performed mighty deeds with his arm;
he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.
He has brought down rulers from their thrones
but has lifted up the humble.
He has filled the hungry with good things
but has sent the rich away empty.
He has helped his servant Israel,
remembering to be merciful
to Abraham and his descendants forever,
even as he said to our fathers.”

  1. Prayers for Rick Hinshaw, the editor of The Long Island Catholic and the first winner of the lifetime Catholic Arts and Letters Award, who is scheduled for surgery on January 5th for a malignant tumor in his colon. The doctor gave him an excellent prognosis, and it was caught early, but of course he'd be grateful for every prayer and kind wish sent his way.

  2. For those who question their faith, may Advent be the spark to fire their flame of belief and trust in God.
Prayers to Our Lady of Guadalupe for her help in our personal faith transformation, as she once transformed the faith of an entire continent.

  3. That those who are unable to support their families because of illness or injury experience the comfort and care of our Lord during the Advent season
