Editor’s note: We’ll have a few people live-blogging the conference this week.  Enjoy!

Hey everyone, I’m your resident conference first-timer, so if anyone else out there is brand new to this, say hello!  I’m on the ground in Dallas, and so far:

-I had an awesome lunch with a (non-writer) friend who lives here in town.  Can I recommend Mijo’s in Arlington if you’re looking for that good local Mexican place you’d otherwise not know about?

-Finished reading Denise Jackson’s Grace in the Shadows, one of the titles up for the CWG’s Seal of Approval this month.  Excellent book.  I’m glad I had the chance to read it, and some quiet time to read it without interruptions.

What I’m looking forward to:

-Finishing Sarah Reinhard’s A Catholic Mom’s Guide to Pregnancy, another SOA title.  By the pool.  This place is gorgeous.

-Getting to sit in on the bookstore presentations at the CMN all day tomorrow.

-Meeting  my CWG friends as they trickle in tomorrow.  I get trained on working the registration desk tomorrow afternoon, and then put to work Wednesday.

Have a great week, and if you’re at the conference, say hi!

  1. I will also be reporting on my blog about the conference. I arrive tomorrow with baby Ross in tow. Finally accepted that he is one BIG infant and purchased a stroller!

I look forward to meeting people too. Say Hi if you spot us. I plan to wear blue on Wednesday and Black on Thursday. If I get the laundry all done before I pack tonight!

    1. Ann — I don’t think we’ve had a chance to say hello, but I’ve been admiring your adorable baby from a distance!! Wanna post a link here to your blog, so we can see your conference reports?

      1. Well, I had a great time in Arlington and did not blog one bit. LOL!! The times I would have were the same as the times the baby needed to be fed and allowed to play and nap in his playpen in the room and when they told me that unlike every 6 or 8 my hubby chooses when we travel they required another fee for wifi in the room or for free I could use the lobby…. well, that just didn’t happen. As it is, the cost of this trip was a good bit more than I anticipated. I should have brought food with me.

Did we ever meet? I met so many people I am still processing it all. Talk about having a blast!

And the loot! I was amazed at the number of publishers who gave books away. Then there were the nuns who gave me a DVD on the priesthood when I purchased books from them, and my delight at being able to pick up two copies of Sarah Reinhard’s book “Catholic Family Fun” and have her sign a copy for me to give to my daughter whose first child is just 9 months old, and…LOL! I guess I had better just go blog about my marvelous time.

        I hope we met!
