The CWG Prayer Chain Post is a weekly post for members to include their special intentions by adding a comment.

Mark 10:13-16

People were bringing little children to him, for him to touch them. The disciples scolded them, but when Jesus saw this he was indignant and said to them, ‘Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs. In truth I tell you, anyone who does not welcome the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.’ Then he embraced them, laid his hands on them and gave them his blessing.

The power of prayer and the power of people praying.

OCTOBER INTENTION PRAYER

Prayer of Saint Francis

(The following variation on the prayer was delivered by Mother Theresa when she addressed the United Nations in 1985)

Make us worthy Lord to serve our fellow men throughout the world,
who live and die in poverty and hunger.
Give them through our hands, this day, their daily bread
and by our understanding love give peace and joy.
Lord, make me a channel of thy peace.
That where there is hatred I may bring love,
That where there is wrong, I may bring the spirit of forgiveness,
That where there is discord, I may bring harmony,
That where there is error I may bring truth,
That where there is doubt I may bring faith,
That where there is despair I may bring hope,
That where there are shadows I may bring light,
That where there is sadness I may bring joy.
Lord, grant that I may seek rather to comfort than to be comforted,
To understand than to be understood,
To love than to be loved.
For it is by forgetting self that one finds.
It is by forgiving that one is forgiven,
it is by dying that one awakens to eternal life.
Amen.

  1. Thank you for Blessed Mother Teresa’s variation on the Prayer of St. Francis. Will you post her “Do It Anyway” advice about “It’s not between you and them; it’s between you and God” writing for the community? Thank you prayers for continued blessings on your work.
