The Light of Pure Love

Scared, alone in the dark

Yet a Light Shines from above

The same light from the ark

Scattered from the flight of a dove

The opposite of fear is love

My Mother’s Rosary

I dreamed that you were still young

and seeking Mary’s intercession,

with unclouded eyes lowered

on fleet fingers that moved as if shelling beans.

And how eager I was to follow your lead,

to echo the decades so dutifully

in answer to our prayers.
