Enjoy poetry Sunday with us here at CWG.  Lent is coming and like many things in the Church Lent is about the small picture and the big picture all at the same time.  In “theology school” I learned a phrase that theologians use a lot:  Already, but not yet.    Lent is Already, but not yet, not to mention plenty to think about!!!!  Have a blessed and life changing Lent!

River of Eternity

Red, thick, warm, rolling down drip by drip

Emptied out and spilled for nil it seems.

What a waste of grace?

Temporary illusion poured out on now holy ground,

becoming a river that winds its way through all eternity.

Strength like a tsunami carrying all it touches

touching all it carries.

Flowing its way through history, people, evil as well as good

Endless

Eternal

Omniscient

Beginning at first glimmer of creation and continuing without a single pause

to Apocalypse

or to personal death.

……whichever comes first!

Animation of life unseen

Stirring in us inebriation misunderstood.

Now washed in red and become white,

Strengthened, sanctified, forever

through no fault of my own.

Thank you!

River of salvation, Amen!

  1. Thanks Larry, if you know anything about rivers you know that nothing can stop the flow of a river. If you dam it, it just goes another direction, but keeps going no matter what!!
