Sanctuary velvet black.

Rising flame, hot!

Reflected faces, glow.

Priestly voice rings out.

Multiplying tongues of fire.

Sound of bells, sharp!

Splashing water, cool.

Smell of myrrh, warm.

Sweet angelic cacophony.

Full lumens blinding beauty.

Voice of teaching stabs.

Touch of peace heals.

Heavenly Tastes of flesh and blood.

Body, soul, mind, us, Him, one.

Night’s blackness becomes morn.

He is risen of our midst, so am I, again!

Allelulia……………..never really lost!

  1. …..by the way, in addition to the comment I made on your site, you might like to know that I come from a Russian Orthodox home. I am currently very Roman but your “Pascha” makes me smile and hear my
Grandmother’s voice! Thanks for that gift.

    1. You’re very welcome! I definitely understand where you’re coming from now with the “immersion” of the senses in the liturgy, with that background! I’ve was born Roman, but my family became Byzantine Catholic when I was four, so I tend to say Pascha instead of Easter. But I still enjoy “breathing with both lungs”!
