My encounter with Finding Grace was a very potent one. I could easily say it is a gem amongst modern young adult fiction, a jewel of rare quality.

This story drew me into the life of a girl named Grace Kelly living in the seventies/eighties era. It pulled me into a struggle to achieve the ultimate goal, the pinnacle of success—sainthood. Needless to say, the story was fraught with the difficulties that assail any individual who undertakes that task.

Complex and potent, Finding Grace unfolds with Grace’s initial decision to place sainthood as her highest endeavor, inspired by a seemingly inconsequential comment from her father. But high-school, threaded with the mysteries of love and immense self-sacrifice, is a battle ground for Grace. She falls deeply in love with someone who only seems to see her as a good friend that is steady and pure-hearted in the turmoil of youth.

Finding Grace deals with themes of passion and love and takes the reader on a journey through life at its most difficult and when it’s brightened with things of Heaven.

This story was profoundly inspiring. It showed that the road to heaven may be scattered with thorns, and it is, without a doubt, almost impossible to not get side-tracked along the way. But with grace every soul may cross that narrow road. Although sanctity is showed to be nothing less than a daunting undertaking, the reader is encouraged to reach for the skies.
