by Nancy Ward, Coordinator of Committees
Do you spend much time on social media? Our Public Relations Committee has been orphaned for several months. The person needed for this fun job needs to love social media as he or she will work with committee chairs to promote the conferences, our private Facebook page events such as Book Blast, blogs, retreats and contests such as SoA and CALA. You can use our app that schedules future posts. If you love social media, this is the networking outlet for you!
Do you shine when creating an online newsletter? Our CWG Newsletter needs the care of a writer/editor who can take 2 or 3 items each month from the officer’s blogs, Board announcements and special events and arrange them in a newsletter template. It is emailed out to members on Constant Contact or Mail Chimp. Here’s what the other committees are doing:
CBN: Dawn Witzke – Two Seal of Approval books are featured on Catholic Book News for May:
• The Lion’s Heart by Dena Hunt, a Religious Fiction, Visionary Fiction categories
• No Lifeguard on Duty by Amy M. Bennett in Catholic/Christian Non-fiction, Bible Study, Inspirational Non-fiction categories
CALA: (Catholic Arts and Letters Award): Carol Ann Chybowski – Everything is quiet with CALA now. The judges are busily reading and turning in their score sheets. The awards will be announced and presented to the winners at CWCL.
CWCL: Ann Lewis, Ellen Hrkach and Karina Fabian –Updated the conference website. Lori Ann Watson is getting the last of the bios and proofreading the website. The newsletter campaign started May 30 and runs once a week for 7 weeks. Help us get the word out about the live conference. Read about this year’s “Openness to God’s Will” conference July 26-29 on the CWCL site and register.
Facebook: Karina Fabian – We need a new volunteer for the social media posting. A volunteer can do this along with their own promotions with our app that schedules future posts. Book Blast for May was “End of the Road: A Black Horse Campground Mystery (Book 1),” by Amy M. Bennett.
Membership: Maureen Smith – We’ve had 11 new members in the last month. More members who are already in our database are creating accounts to make their membership easier now they are on “auto” rather than paying by invoice/mail.
SOA: Ellen Hrkach – Evaluators are reading books for the Seal of Approval awards. Evaluations were due last month. The SoA committee will let authors know whether their book has received the SoA by June 30.
Zenit: Dennis McGeehan –
Two blogs from CWG were published on Zenit.com:
- Five ways to share your faith by Nancy Ward
- Planets, Dr. Seuss and Snowflakes—Combined Proof That There is a CREATOR by Larry Peterson
Other committees include CWG Blog, Catholic Writers Conference Online, Speakers Bureau/Education and Retreat. We need chairpersons for Newsletter and Public Relations Committees.
