Thank you for your interest in writing for the Catholic Writers Guild blog. If you are a member in good standing (translation: your dues are paid for this year), we are thrilled to have you on the team!
Our Topic: Catholic Writing and Publishing.
Genres: Non-fiction, flash fiction, poetry, artwork.
Word Count: Approximately 500 words or less. Very short posts are welcome. Posts that exceed the 500-ish limit may be run with an editor’s approval. We may also recommend dividing the post into a series.
Editing: All posts are subject to review by one or more members of the editorial team. Editors may choose to run your post with revisions, or to send it back for a re-write. Read more about editing your post here.
Inclusion in Inside the CWG: Select posts may be cross-published in the CWG’s member newsletter, at the discretion of the newsletter editor.
Photos: To include an image or illustration with your post:
- Provide a link to the off-site location of the image. Do not e-mail images to the blogmaster, as they will be deleted.
- Include necessary photo credits if you do not personally own the image. You must have permission to use the photo before you include it in your post.
Editors may also choose to add an image to your text-only submission.
Reprints: We are happy to run reprints on a space-available basis. Priority is given to new material and to reprints of exceptional value to our readers.
- Please tell the the blog editor that you are submitting a reprint.
- Please make sure you own the copyright to your reprint. (If you are sending an original article from your personal blog or website, you own the copyright.)
Concurrent Publication: When you submit an original article for the CWG blog, we ask that you let it run here first, before re-posting it at your own site. In most cases, concurrent publication is fine as well. If your post is time-sensitive, please tell the blog editor so we can make sure it runs early enough that you can still publish it at your location at the desired time.
Deadlines: If you have made a commitment to write for the CWG blog, please be conscientious in keeping to your scheduled writing dates. Please submit your material at least 72 hours in advance, to allow time for editing. Last-minute submissions may be withheld from publication until the editorial board is satisfied with the quality of the post.
Real Life Happens: If you need to modify your writing schedule, just let us know. The sooner we know, the sooner we can rearrange to meet your needs.
How to Get Started: Visit the blog contact information page to find out which editor should receive your inquiry. All members of the CWG are encouraged to submit ideas and posts.
Editor’s note: Real life happens for your editorial board as well. If you are instructed, “Remind me if you don’t hear from me by _________,” please follow-up on the reminder date. That’s not pestering. That’s helping. You might be given a new follow-up date at that time. Lather, rinse, repeat.

A Poem in Preparation for Holy Week
CHRIST TO JUDAS
Judas, if true love never ceases
How could you, my friend,
Have come to this.
To sell me for thirty silver pieces,
Betray me with a kiss.
Judas, remember what I told you.
Do not despair while hanging on that rope.
It’s because you’ve sinned that I have sought you.
I came to give you hope.
Judas, let’s pray and hang together.
You on your halter, I upon my hill.
Dear friend, even if you loved me never,
You know I love you still.
