THE YOUNG CHESTERTON CHRONICLES BOOK 2 RELEASE

CWG member John McNichol’s newest steam punk adventure with young Gilbert Keith Chesterton has arrived in paperback and Kindle and Nook form. The Emperor of North America (Bezalel Books, 2011) is the sequel to his best-selling novel, Tripods Attack!, that introduced G. K. Chesterton as a young man living in an alternative Edwardian age of steam-driven wonders.

Book Two of The Young Chesterton Chronicles: The Emperor of North America, finds Gilbert with a new faith and a new job, reporting for the London Times, as well as a new love-interest, a beautiful heiress named Frances. However, things quickly turn for Gilbert when disturbing questions about his murky past surfaces. His best friend Herb becomes suddenly wealthy and evasive, and the mysterious redheaded woman reappears, bringing trouble with her.

When Gilbert learns his life is in jeopardy, he leaves England for the safety of his American homeland. There he meets a powerful man who calls himself the “Emperor of North America” with a keen interest in Gilbert’s career.

Gilbert fights past dogged, airborne assassins and steam-powered cowboys, through the streets of New York and a floating city in the clouds. Along the way, he learns that while his adversaries may change, America may not be any safer than England. For it is in America that both Gilbert and Herb will confront their most dangerous opponents yet…themselves.

Kevin Vost, Psy.D. and best-selling author of Tending the Temple and Memorize the Faith!, writes “The Tripods Attack is a page-turning adventure of Chestertonian proportions, a feast of the imagination for young and for adults. It rendered this reader ready to read more Chesterton, as well as, this, McNichol’s next volume!”

McNichol was born in Toronto, but met his American wife while attending Franciscan University in Ohio. They now live in Vancouver, Washington, with their seven children and “The Dumbest Dog in the State of Washington.” He is a middle school teacher and writes steampunk-themed science fiction about his favorite authors and literary characters. His first book, The Tripods Attack (Sophia Press, 2008), and The Emperor of America are part of a trilogy in The Young Chesterton Chronicles. McNichol is currently working on the final volume in the trilogy, Where the Red Sands Fly, where Gilbert battles against Herb and the conspirators on Mars, “in a fight that spans not only two different worlds, but two different eras of time as well.”
