‘Turning in Circles’ is a well written story. I’m proud my song ‘Joshua’ inspired the character ‘Beard.’” –Dolly Parton, Singer and Actress

It’s a dilemma we’ve all faced— watching someone we love fall under the spell of a dangerous and calculating person. With her characteristic compassion, insight, and humor, Michelle Buckman documents such a situation and weaves it into a suspenseful, illuminating and unforgettable story… I am honored the character of Ellerbe DePaul was inspired by John Boy Walton.” – Earl Hamner, Jr., Creator of The Waltons, author of Spencer’s Mountain and The Homecoming

Summary:

Savannah and Charleston, two sisters living in a small Southern town, have always been close. They’ve shared everything with one another…until bad-boy Dillon sets his sights on Charleston. As she’s drawn down his dark, destructive path, Savannah panics, knowing this isn’t a relationship destined for anything but trouble.

Savannah turns to her lifelong best friend, Ellerbe, for help, but there’s a shift in their relationship. The connection they’ve shared is taking a turn toward something more, something deeper. Savannah isn’t sure she’s ready for a romance while trying to save her sister.

As Savannah’s foundation begins to crumble, every decision becomes an unchangeable step toward an outcome that could have tragic repercussions.

Excerpt:

My sister lay sleeping in the sun on the beach beside me, her skin so pale and fine it was like the sand beneath us formed into flesh, even to the flecks of freckles playing across her cheeks. Her tawny hair, spread across her shoulders and frizzing in the salty heat, fluttered slightly in the fish-tainted breeze off the ocean. Her breath puffed out, mingling with mine. We were mirror images of each other and kindred spirits, almost twins I liked to say.

You can’t almost be twins,” Mama used to respond. “You either are or you aren’t, and you’re not.”

We were the next closest thing, though, her slipping into Mama’s womb as the last of my birthing slipped out and delivered three weeks early as if she were so anxious to be with me she couldn’t wait out the last bit.
