Hail and Praises to…

Ann Margaret Lewis’ Gold Medal IPPY award for Murder in the Vatican: The Church Mysteries of Sherlock Holmes.

Ann Lewis’ Murder in the Vatican tied for first place in the Religious Fiction Category of the Independent Publisher Book Awards.  Some 2,000 authors and publishers engaged in the annual IPPY competition that began in 1996 to increase awareness of deserving titles published by independent writers and publishers.

“I am astonished, amazed and grateful, says Ann Lewis of her win.  “My only goal was to give readers a few hours of fun.  I’m glad people are enjoying it.”

Join the legendary Dr. John H. Watson and Pope Leo XIII in following Sherlock Holmes’ investigation of three cases:  “The Death of Cardinal Tosca,” “The Vatican Cameos,” and “The Second Coptic Patriarch.”

Ellen Hrkach of Catholicfiction.net describes Murder in the Vatican as “a delightful, enjoyable read from start to finish, beautifully written with characters who are familiar yet unique in the setting of this book.  Lewis captures well the essence of the original Sir Arthur Conan Doyle books.”
Other reviews of Murder in the Vatican have been equally glowing.  Ellery Queen Magazine called Murder in the Vatican “Engagingly written!”  The Baker Street Journal, a Sherlock Holmes publication, said: “Even the casual reader of the Canon comes away noting that several of Holmes’s unpublished cases have to do with the Catholic Church.  Lewis runs with this ecclesiastical hook, giving us a decent dose of Baker Street and three good mysteries, and even throws in a meeting with G.K. Chesterton’s Father Brown.  In addition, Rikki Niehaus illustrates the book with delightful period style pen and ink.”
“I felt these were truly Sherlock Holmes stories and I got the same enjoyable feeling from these as I did originally from the stories,” writes The Curt Jester, popular Catholic blogger Jeff Miller.
Murder in the Vatican was published by the premier publisher of Sherlock Holmes related material, Gasogene Books, and can be purchased through Amazon.comwessexpress.com, and ignatius.com.
