CELEBRATE ADVENT WITH WELCOME BABY JESUS
It’s still the first week of Advent. Many of us are starting the scramble of holiday preparations. The children are excited, eager to begin their Advent calenders and visit Santa. The Advent wreath and Nativity scenes are set up, but as a parent, you want to give your child more for this preparatory time. Sarah Reinhard’s Welcome Baby Jesus (Liguori Publications, 2011) does just that.

An Advent and Christmas booklet for children, Welcome Baby Jesus, provides your family with daily reflections meant to “capture some of what’s intended by the liturgical season of Advent. Each day has a Scripture quote, a brief reflection, and an action to complete.”

The booklet takes the reader from the first Sunday of Advent through the Feast of the Epiphany, divided into weekly themes: Get Ready, Repent, Love, Anticipate, and Rejoice. Each day’s Think, Pray, and Act are written simply, perfect for those with short attention spans.

One Amazon reviewer wrote, “Welcome Baby Jesus” is an exceptional Advent resource for today’s Catholic families. The booklet is based on Scripture, but easy to understand, delightfully decorated, and filled with exercises designed to draw the family together and closer to Jesus. What a perfect resource to use and give as a gift to families you know prior to the holy season of Advent.”

Welcome Baby Jesus is available at your local Catholic bookstores and on Amazon for $1.99, all them more reason to start Advent with the focus on “the reason for the Season”: preparing for the birth of our Messiah.

Sarah Reinhard is a Catholic wife, mother, and writer living in Ohio. She writes at SnoringScholar.com in the midst of rural farm life with little ones underfoot. A convert to Catholicism, she’s still learning what to do and when to do it, and she struggles (like so many others) with keeping sight of her faith in the midst of everyday life.
