It’s that time again.  What are your writing goals for 2012?  What questions do you have?

Want to have some fun?  CWG member Hilda Leticia Dominguez proposes:

Describe a time when you made a fresh, new start.

Her answer:

That would have to be the time my family and I moved here to our new house five years ago. We lost connection with my dad’s side of the family (the problematic ones), and we left all our furniture at our old home. We wanted a complete, clean start in our life. Starting new again can be overwhelming.  But it’s also exciting to experience something new.

Your turn! Tell us the time you made a fresh, new start.

You can reply here in the comment box, or post on your own blog, and then come back and share the link.

  1. Jeffery, those are great goals — very focused and with priorities in place.

Sarah, that is so true about the goal-fiend.

    Mine for 2012 are:

-Figure out who will publish my catechist booklet, and do what is needed to make it happen. (That’s underway, but will have to go to plans B, C, D, etc. if 1st choice doesn’t pan out.)

-Goal of completing my homeschooling book manuscript by June 2012. Helps that the spouse said no live conference if I don’t have a book to bring with me. (I argued that I should go regardless. But I’d better finish that book anyway. It’s hung around too long.)

-Beyond that, hold steady with current blog and real-life commitments. And resist getting sidetracked by exciting new ideas that need to wait their turn.

-Oh yes and I have one magazine article that needs to get off my desk and be submitted. Just need to find the minutes to edit and ship it off.

    1. Jennifer,

Thanks for your reply. Reading about your catechist booklet publication, I thought of a recent web site that offers help http://michaelhyatt.com/product/writing-a-winning-book-proposal“>in the form of an eBook.

It seems like Mr. Hyatt has some insight since he’s the CEO of Thomas Nelson. I keep it handy if the spirit moves me in that direction.

      Good luck!

I’m here to offer my assistance to you in any way. So feel free to contact me.

  2. Writing goals? Whaaaa? Um, to keep my head above water…guess I need to do better than that, huh?

OK, here goes, off the top of my head:
    1. Two book proposals on paper and submitted to publishers (they’re in my head right now)
    2. Update my website to include all aspects of a press kit
    3. Finish at least one feature item (i.e., a book)

Now I’m stopping, I can feel the goal-setting fiend in my head starting to wake up, and I’m only going to fail if I let her loose…

I love the idea about writing about a fresh start, but I’m going to have to think about that.

  3. Jennifer,

Thank you for asking about our writing goals. My most important goal is to grow closer to God as I write about my Catholic faith. In sharing my enthusiasm, I pray that readers are moved by the beauty of scripture and encouraged to practice the Sacraments.

    Specific goals:

    1. Continue writing a daily reflection on the Lectionary scripture readings on my blog.

    2. Write 3 feature-length articles about the Living the Catholic Faith Conference

    3. Publish my conversion story. I have bits sprinkled through about 150 blog posts. I want to coalesce it into a coherent story, publish it on my blog and submit it to conversion story sites such as Convert Journal.
