This month, the Catholic Writers’ Guild is touring Ivonne J. Hernandez’s book, “The Rosary: Eucharistic Meditations with St. Peter Julian Eymard, Apostle of The Eucharist.” It has an Imprimatur from Most Reverend Gregory L. Parkes, Bishop of St. Petersburg. Plunge deeper than ever before into the mysteries of the Rosary by meditating on them from the point of view of the Eucharist.

Summary:
Using the teachings of St. Peter Julian Eymard, Ivonne J. Hernandez invites us to discover what is Eucharistic in each mystery of the Rosary and allow the Holy Spirit to breathe new life into our devotion. For each mystery of the Rosary, you will find an excerpt from the teachings of St. Peter Julian Eymard and a personal reflection by the author. This book is a perfect companion to bring to Eucharistic Adoration or to keep next to your prayer journal.

Excerpt:
“Let the Most Holy Eucharist therefore be the starting point of our meditations on the mysteries, virtues, and truths of our religion. The Eucharist is the focal point; the truths of religion are the rays. Let us start from the focus to go to the rays.” – St. Peter Julian Eymard

When you share your story with someone, you share your very self, you enter into a relationship. God wants to be in relationship with us. We were made for that. Jesus gives Himself to us in Communion, but He wants even more. He wants our hearts. Jesus taught the Apostles in private. He revealed to them the secrets of His heart. We can ask Him to do the same with us. These secrets are all in the Eucharist. We can meditate on the mysteries of the Most Holy Rosary, the mysteries of Jesus’ life, from the Eucharist. Jesus is truly present there, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity. When we combine the most powerful weapon for our times, the Rosary, with the Real Presence of Our Lord in the Eucharist, we are indeed sitting in the inner room of our hearts, with Jesus and Mary. Let us then ask Our Lady of The Blessed Sacrament to grant us the graces we need to go through Him, with Him, and in Him; to “start from the focus and go to the rays.” To open our hearts in His Presence, sit at His feet, and receive “the one thing necessary.” (Lk 10:42)

Bio:
Being called by God to do His work, Puerto Rican-born Ivonne J. Hernandez envisioned it would be a very clear, loud, and defining moment. She hadn’t had that! She was a wife and mother of three with a career as a computer engineer, whose life had all the normal challenges. What she found is sometimes God’s call is just a tap, just a nudge. If you follow, it will lead you on a journey of growth revealing a life designed for you, by God, at the beginning of time that you could have never imagined for yourself. Ivonne responded to nudge after nudge that guided her from non-practicing Catholic, through a debilitating illness, to collaborating on establishing the Elisheba House, a non-profit Catholic apostolate whose mission is to make known the love of God present in the Eucharist; and authoring The Rosary: Eucharistic Meditations. Since writing the book, Ivonne has been invited to speak at various parishes and events around the Diocese of St. Petersburg. Ivonne writes regularly for the Elisheba Blog, the Center for Eucharistic Evangelizing’s Daily Eucharistic Reflection, and CatholicMom.com.

Special Considerations:
All proceeds from the sales of the book go to further the mission of Elisheba House… to make known the love of God present in the Eucharist. Elisheba House is a Catholic non-profit charitable organization, with 501(c)(3) status under the USCCB. You can find us in the Catholic Directory under the Diocese of St. Petersburg.
