This month, the Catholic Writers’ Guild is touring Kathryn Swegart’s book, Lucia of Fatima. It is a CWG Seal of Approval recipient! So you thought you knew all there was to know about Fatima? Do you know why the visits always happened on the 13th of the month or that Francisco was confronted by a devil?

Lucia of Fatima

Summary:

Lucia of Fatima tells the riveting story of Our Lady’s visits to three children in the year 1917. Told from the viewpoint of Lucia, readers experience the joy and sorrows of this courageous visionary. Based on Lucia’s memoirs and those of her Carmelite sisters. Little known and often startling facts are brought to light. Illustrated. Historical fiction for ages 10 and up.

Excerpt:

Lucia was not prepared for the sight that lay before her. Francisco was pressed against a cliff. In front of him was a large wolf-like creature with black, bristly fur and pointy ears. Foamy saliva outlined his mouth, and sharp fangs gleamed in the sunlight. The beast snarled ferociously and crept closer to Francisco.
