When a teen snowboarding superstar reluctantly moves to a small Colorado mountain town, he must abandon his ego and team up with a studious and standoffish local girl to solve a mystery at the abandoned gold mine, ultimately discovering who God wants him to be.

Truth is, I’ve coasted since the Olympics. When the pressure hit last week I couldn’t handle it and freaked. Is that really who I’ve become? What happened to the kid who did things for others simply because it was the right thing to do? What happened to the person who worked hard in school, in sports, in life? If I get out of this situation in one piece I’ll gladly take it, stress and all. I’m not gonna back down from the challenge— never have before.
And no more whining about living in Silver Springs. Ironically, I complained because this town was boring. I wouldn’t mind a little boring about now. When I longed for excitement, running into drug traffickers wasn’t what I had in mind. Most importantly, if I hadn’t moved here I never would have met Sophie. First thing I’m going to do if I get out of here is explain everything to her and tell her how I really feel.

Michael Fraley
Michael Fraley has been editing and posting the CWG Book Blast since 2016. He's adapted the Arthurian portion of Geoffrey of Monmouth's “Histories of the Kings of Britain” to the comic page, has worked in book illustration, graphic design, and has also served as a newspaper columnist. In 2019 the story of his conversion to Catholicism was told in Nancy Ward's book Sharing Your Catholic Faith Story. His primary area of study is in the Jewish roots of the Church, with an emphasis on the Gospel of Matthew and the Epistle of James.
